Our Accompanist

Gavin Roberts began his musical education as a Chorister at Magdalen College, Oxford. Having won a music scholarship to Bradfield College, he went on to study Organ with Stephen Farr at Winchester Cathedral. In 1999 he won an Organ Scholarship to Gonville and Caius College Cambridge where he read Music and studied organ with Nicolas Kynaston and David Sanger. As Organ Scholar, under Dr. Geoffrey Webber, he appeared as a soloist and accompanist on live radio broadcasts, foreign tours and several recordings (including a DVD of music by Poulenc, in collaboration with Tim Brown and the Choir of Clare College, Cambridge). He subsequently became a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists.

As a soloist, he has appeared at Westminster Central Hall, St. John's and Trinity Colleges in Cambridge, St. Michael Cornhill, London and the Cathedrals of Luxembourg and Barcelona. He currently holds the position of Assistant Organist at St. Marylebone Parish Church, London where he accompanies and assists in the direction of the 10 voice professional choir. He is also organist and choir director at St. Marylebone School.

Last year, he completed his 'Masters in Music' Degree at King's College London, whose choir, under the direction of David Trendell, he regularly accompanied in their busy schedule of services, concerts, and broadcasts. He is accompanist and assistant director for the Chandos Chamber Choir and Barnet Choral Society, and he is in great demand as a freelance organist, continuo-player, piano accompanist and teacher.
