SUMMARY:Blue Skies From Now On - Summer picnic concert 
DESCRIPTION:Sacred and secular music for a summer afternoon\n\nA summer pic
 nic concert\n\nChandos Chamber Choir is delighted to present a programme o
 f sacred and secular music at Christ Church\, Southwark\, to celebrate the
  summer season.\n\nThe first half of our concert comprises a selection of 
 unaccompanied sacred music.  This half of the programme will include well
 -known pieces such as William Byrd’s Ave Verum Corpus and William Harris
 ’ Faire is the Heaven\, and also works by contemporary composers such as
  Arvo Pärt’s The Deer’s Cry and Ola Gjeilo’s Prelude Exsultate Jubi
 late.  A highlight is Bob Chilcott’s My Prayer\, one of a number of mod
 ern works inspired by seventeenth-century composer Henry Purcell’s well-
 known piece Hear My Prayer.\n\nBetween the two halves of the concert we ho
 pe you will join us for a picnic in the beautiful grounds of Christ Church
 .  Bring your own picnic to enjoy what we hope will be a splendid summer 
 afternoon (wet weather alternative available).\n\nThe second half of our c
 oncert will be a relaxed set of summer-themed songs\, starting with an arr
 angement of Irving Berlin’s Blue Skies\, and featuring madrigals\, folk 
 songs and a spiritual by a range of composers from Thomas Weelkes and Thom
 as Morley through to Rosephanye Powell.\n\nWe look forward to seeing you a
